Britt joined Hawthorne Strategy Group in March of 2017, bringing with her nearly three years of experience in media relations, public affairs, and crisis communications. Utilizing her experience, Britt develops thoughtful media and communications strategies for Hawthorne clients, helping to secure local, state, and national media coverage.
Prior to joining the team at Hawthorne, Britt served as press secretary for U.S. Senator Mark Kirk. During her time at Senator Kirk’s office, Britt led media relations efforts in the Illinois market on behalf of the Senator, including the execution of press events across the state. Although based in Chicago, she also had the opportunity to work on Capitol Hill as she traveled to D.C. frequently in her role. Britt began her media relations career in Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart’s Department of Policy and Communications.
Britt, a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, has her B.S. in psychology and criminal justice and M.A. in criminal justice and criminology.
When she is not pitching stories to reporters on behalf of Hawthorne clients, Britt is an active member of the Chicago Walk to End Alzheimer’s volunteer committee, leading efforts to recruit new teams and expand awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.
