Kessel joined Hawthorne Strategy Group in January of 2018 as part of the firm’s fellowship program. Intrigued by Hawthorne’s diverse clients, Kessel was excited by the idea of working with clients that make a real impact in Chicago and beyond. Kessel values the fast- paced environment and tight-knit community at Hawthorne, and is thrilled to be part of a dynamic team.
Prior to Hawthorne, Kessel interned at the Cannes Film Festival and honed his craft as a visual storyteller, using this skill set to shift his career focus from film making to public relations – and he’s never looked back! To hone his newfound love for PR, Kessel interned at The Tie Bar where he played an integral role in executing communications strategies for the brand. He also interned for Tennessee based Ackermann Marketing and PR, gaining experience in clients ranging from University of Tennessee Medical Center and Utility Variable-Generation Integration Group, a research company providing information on wind and solar integration efforts.
Kessel graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a major in cinematic arts and a minor in public relations, and uses his dynamic background to continually challenge himself to effectively communicate with audiences regardless of medium or genre.
During his free time, Kessel enjoys exploring the city, especially the art, music, and food scenes!
