Gene Reineke named PR Professional of the Year, Britt Logan named 30 Under 30
Hawthorne is honored to be recognized by The Holmes Report, Bulldog Reporter, Publicity Club of Chicago and PRSA Chicago for outstanding client work and contribution to the field of public relations. This Spring and Summer, we took home a Silver Trumpet Award from the Publicity Club of Chicago, a Bulldog Award, and three Skyline Awards for our work with the Illinois Governor’s Mansion Association. We were also a Holmes Report SABRE Award finalist. Thank you to our clients, agency partners, and Hawthorne team members past and present who continue to be a vital part of delivering award winning work.
Gene Reineke Awarded PRSA Chicago’s PR Professional of the Year
Hawthorne chairman and founder, Gene Reineke, was recognized as the PRSA Professional of the Year at the 2019 Skyline Awards. Gene’s decades of hard work and dedication to his clients, as well as his mentorship of the next generation of public relations leaders, were just some of the qualities that inspired three of Gene’s colleagues and peers to nominate him for this honor.
Over the last seven years, Gene has grown Hawthorne from a one-person shop to a dynamic business with more than a dozen employees and a diverse roster of clients. By helping Hawthorne transition to a women-owned business in February of this year, Gene continues to make significant contributions towards making Chicago’s PR landscape a more gender-inclusive place.
Congratulations, Gene, on this prestigious honor!

Britt Logan Receives Publicity Club of Chicago 30 Under 30 Award
Congratulations are also in order for our colleague, Britt Logan, on being selected as a recipient of the Publicity Club of Chicago’s 30 Under 30 Award! This award honors public relations professionals under the age of 30 who have accomplished a significant amount in their short careers.
Britt has grown significantly during her time at Hawthorne. Currently serving as a Senior Account Director, Britt is always ready to tackle a new project and expertly adapts to client needs through every phase of a project. We’ve watched her build a crisis management plan for a global manufacturer, secure national, global, and trade media coverage for clients, and lead teams through comprehensive brand perception studies, all while being a terrific colleague and active member of her community.
Congratulations, Britt! Hawthorne is grateful to have you on our team and proud to recognize you with this well-deserved honor.

Award-Winning Work for the Illinois Governor’s Mansion Association
In early 2018, the Illinois Governor’s Mansion Association hired Hawthorne for communications support leading up to the grand re-opening of the building, which, despite being one of the oldest and most historic governor’s mansions in the country, had fallen into disrepair after 150 years of occupancy.
Due to our successful efforts in raising awareness of the Mansion as a newly re-opened tourist destination with increased programing and driving attendance to the grand reopening event, Hawthorne has been recognized with several awards and honors reflecting our work on this campaign.
In March, the Holmes Report named Hawthorne as a finalist in the educational and cultural institution category for a 2019 SABRE award, out of a pool of more than 2,000 entries. In June, we received a Gold Bulldog Award, a Silver Trumpet Award from the Publicity Club of Chicago, and three Skyline Awards of Excellence from PRSA Chicago.
Without the hard work of our team members and collaboration from our friends at the Illinois Governor’s Mansion Association, none of these awards would be possible. Thank you!
