In October Hawthorne had the opportunity to assist our client, Choose Chicago, in the promotion and event planning for an exciting, record-breaking announcement: Chicago was named the “Best Big City in the U.S.” for a fifth consecutive year by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2021.
This year, more than 800,000 readers from across the country voted Chicago as their favorite destination, making Chicago the only city to ever win this accolade five years in a row. While an exciting announcement, it also has its challenges. We were charged with securing interviews with media without revealing what the interview will focus on, as there is always a strict embargo on the news. Our talented team tapped its media relationships to lineup interviews ahead of the announcement, and once the news is lifted, fill up the schedule with interviews.
