With more than 30 years of experience, Marj Halperin’s career spans journalism, marketing, and public relations as well as non-profit management, government reform and campaign management. Marj has provided leadership support for Mayor Richard M. Daley, then-Illinois Treasurer Pat Quinn, the Chicago Public Schools, and the Chicago Park District. There, Marj motivated residents citywide to “Come Out and Play” in Chicago’s parks in her role as CPD’s first Marketing Director. As President and CEO of the League of Chicago Theatres for nearly 10 years, Marj positioned Chicago’s live theater industry as a high-profile brand recognized internationally for talent and innovation.
As President of the full-service communications agency, Marj Halperin Consulting (MHC), she supported clients in the corporate, non-profit and public sectors. Marj served as an integral part of The 606 project management team as communications, community outreach, and government relations consultant. She led her team in generating media coverage that reached millions of consumers in Chicago and around the world. For the Chicago Transit Authority, MHC managed the design of a revamped communications department and developed a bright, conversational toolkit for training rank-and-file staff to use a new workforce management software system.
Marj is the WGN-TV Morning News’ Democratic Analyst. An occasional guest on Fox Business Channel’s Cavuto Coast to Coast, CTV in Toronto, Canada and Radio New Zealand, you might also find her commentary on Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor and WLS radio’s nationally-syndicated Beyond the Beltway. Marj is in her second term as vice-chair of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Committee on Arts & Culture, providing guidance and support to the development and implementation of the city’s Cultural Plan.
